Camille Saint-Saëns' symphonic poem Danse Macabre (Op. 40), composed in 1874, is a classical masterpiece based on a poem by the French poet Henri Cazalis.
The music vividly depicts a medieval legend in which skeletons rise from their graves at midnight and dance until the rooster crows at dawn. In Korea, the piece is widely known to the public, having been used as the music for figure skater Yuna Kim's short program during the 2008–2009 season. It is currently gaining renewed popularity through the piano duet performance by the two male leads in the drama Four Hands.
This arrangement is not the full version but a 115-bar score, adapted to a level suitable for students at music academies to play.
