“Go Down, Moses” Sheet Music

A score for duo of piano and voice. The vocals are typed using the suboctave clef (the treble clef with the numeral 8 below it).

The track is transcribed in the original key, G Minor modulated into C Minor, and uses jazzy major and minor chords. I added a version in E Minor as well.

“Go Down, Moses” was sung with swinged rhythm in quadruple time that's why I notated it as 12/8. Accent strong beats. Notice fermata. Hold the pause one measure.

Avoid learning both hands together in the very beginning; you will fail immediately and abandon the score.

Louis Armstrong's predominant articulation is tenuto non legato.

In slurred passages descending inflections are played diminuendo >.

Much of the song’s aesthetic value is generated through repetition.
